MORE ABOUT MRU

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) is the largest specialized university for social sciences and humanities in Lithuania. Named after Professor Mykolas Romeris, a founding figure in Lithuanian constitutional law, MRU is recognised nationally and internationally for its strong research culture, innovative approaches, and societal impact.

MRU conducts extensive research across the social sciences and humanities, participating in numerous national and international research programmes and projects every year. The University’s research addresses real-world challenges and contributes to evidence-based policy, social innovation, sustainable development, and inclusive societies. A European Commission-funded study identified MRU as a leading university in social innovation development in Central and Eastern Europe. The Social Innovations Laboratory Network, comprising sixteen research laboratories and five centres, connects academia, government, business, and civil society to work on interdisciplinary research, innovation, and social impact.

Internationalisation is one of MRU’s strategic priorities. The University offers a wide range of study programmes delivered in English, including joint and double degree programmes, and collaborates with key academic partners across Europe, Asia, and beyond. MRU was the first university in Lithuania to launch joint programmes with partners in France, Austria, and Finland, and maintains active partnerships with universities in South Korea, Japan, China, India, and many other countries.

MRU continues to develop modern research and learning infrastructure, combining state-of-the-art facilities, advanced digital resources, one of the most modern academic libraries in Europe, and an open, inclusive academic environment. With around 7 000 students and over 500 academic and staff members, MRU fosters a vibrant community driven by academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement.
